New Family Room
A move to a new home with larger living space meant my client needed furnishings that would blend with her existing pieces. Her living and dining room pieces fit perfectly; the challenge was to design the new family living space that her previous home lacked.
My goal was to make the room -that would have all new pieces- a star by enriching her warm toned color palette and providing a focal point for her collections. Since her children are grown, the room would be used for entertaining friends.
- Addressed the architectural elements by adding moldings, enhancing the fireplace and reworking a substandard built in.
- Layered grass cloth on the walls and richly printed linen on the windows setting the color direction.
- Selected deep, comfortable sofas in a rich chocolate color and fabrics with an exotic feel to capture the color and flavor of the pottery and artwork she collects.
- By keeping in mind the client’s color preferences and design sensibilities I was able to reflect her style and provided flow throughout her new home.
